Credits
How Voxta Cloud credits work, what burns through them fastest, and how to keep usage in check.
Voxta Cloud meters usage in credits. Every LLM call, TTS generation, and STT transcription burns a small amount of credit. Your balance is visible at portal.voxta.ai in real time, broken down by which service consumed what.
Subscribers get monthly credits with their plan, whether they subscribe directly with Voxta or via Patreon. You can also top up your balance with one-time credit packs.
Where credits go fastest
In rough order, the biggest credit consumers:
- High-end TTS — ElevenLabs voices, especially with emotion / multilingual settings, are the most expensive per second of speech.
- Large LLMs — bigger models cost more per token; long conversations stack up.
- Heavy STT usage — Deepgram is efficient, but long always-on listening sessions add up.
If you're burning through credits faster than expected, the portal's usage view shows which service is the culprit.
Common questions
I just subscribed or topped up — where are my credits?
For a Voxta subscription or a credit pack, credits land on your account within about a minute — the payment confirmation page will let you know once they're applied.
For Patreon, it can take a few minutes for the change to reach our backend. To force a sync immediately, go to the portal and click Sync With Patreon.
On Patreon you can only be awarded the credits of the highest tier you've paid for in a given month — upgrading mid-month gives you the proportional difference, not the full top-tier amount on top of what you already had.
I upgraded but got fewer credits than the tier description says
When you upgrade mid-cycle, Patreon charges you only the difference between your old and new tier for the rest of that month. You receive a proportional credit grant matching that difference.
You'll get the full tier amount on the next billing cycle, when Patreon charges you the full new-tier price.
My credits are gone — how?
Some services chew through credits surprisingly fast. ElevenLabs voices in particular can drain a meaningful chunk of credits during a long conversation. The portal shows exactly where your credits went — character, service, time.
If you want lower-cost options, look at:
- UnrealSpeech TTS instead of ElevenLabs.
- Local TTS (Coqui XTTS, Kokoro) if you have a GPU.
- Local LLM if your hardware can handle it.
I unsubscribed and resubscribed in the same month — no new credits
Correct, and intentional. Patreon doesn't double-charge in a single billing cycle, so we don't double-issue credits. Check your subscription history on the portal to confirm whether you've already been awarded credits this cycle.
Renewal mechanics
- Credits refill on the anniversary of your Patreon subscription, not the calendar month.
- On renewal, you receive a fresh allotment of credits up to 2× your tier's grant.
- Example: User tier (1500 credits/month). On renewal, your balance refills to your tier amount, capped at 3000 credits.
- Unused credits don't accumulate beyond the 2× cap.
- Downgrading to a lower tier doesn't remove credits you already have — but the future credit refill will match the lower tier.
Top-ups
If your monthly credits run out and you don't want to change your plan, you can buy one-time credit packs in the portal. Pay by card or cryptocurrency — see Plans & Billing → One-time credit packs.
Credit packs are delivered immediately and are non-refundable (cryptocurrency especially, since blockchain payments are irreversible). See Terms for details.
