Importing VRM Files

The VRM model is the representation of your Voxta character as an avatar that Voxy Desktop Companion uses. VRM is an abbreviation for VRoid Model. VRM is also the filename extension for VRoid files. A .vrm file is a container that holds the skinned mesh, rig, textures, and other necessary components that enable the model to be animated.

There are many places to download pre-made VRoid avatars. The VRoid Hub is a great source for free VRM avatars. Please note: Voxta is not affiliated with VRoid Hub or any other distributors of VRM avatars.

There are two ways to import a VRM to use with Voxy Desktop Companion:

Option 1:

  • Navigate to your VoxyDesktopCompanion_Data folder.

Import VRM file

  • Inside this folder, find the folder named VRM

Drag your VRM avatar file (.vrm) into this folder. The Voxy.vrm is the default avatar that ships with Voxy Desktop Companion. If you do not have any VRM files, the default Voxy VRM will load for all your characters.

Option 2:

  • Use a Voxta Package file (.voxpkg). Import a Voxta Package file that contains a character and a VRM asset into Voxta.

  • Then in Voxy Desktop Companion refresh your Character view. You will see your newly imported character which you can load immediately and begin chatting.
